The Devil and Miss Prym by Paulo Coelho

“In this extraordinary book, Coelho has the courage to ask awkward questions... and give surprising answers.”
— Daily Express (UK)

What would you do if one day a stranger offered you something you can't resist but only with one condition that is to have someone murdered? That's what happened to the inhabitants of a little town called Viscos. One day a stranger visited the town hoping to find the answer to the question: Are human beings, in essence, good or evil? The stranger set up a plan in which he offers the villagers 11 gold bars which are buried somewhere in the woods but only if they agreed to have someone murdered before the week is over.

This book is another favourite of mine from Paulo Coelho along with The Alchemist. The concept of the story is quite simple but it is the message that the book is trying to present which is quite meaningful: which path would you follow? good or evil? In my opinion, we human beings determines whether we are good or evil because we have the choice to be good or evil. Although the story is simple ans quite short for me compared to his other novels The Zahir or The Alchemist but still very enjoyable to read. I've managed to finish this book in just one day so perhaps this book would be great reading while you are travelling on a plane or on a long journey.
