Message In a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks

" The novel's unbashed emotion-and an unexpected turn-will put tears in your eyes."

-People

If you are not familiar with the name Nicholas Sparks, all I can say is that he is a best selling author of mainly romance novels with most of them have been turned into movies. I'm sure you guys have heard of the movie 'A walk to remember' which featured pop sensation Mandy Moore as one of the leading actors. The movie was adapted from one of books by Nicholas Sparks which ia also called 'A Walk To Remember'.

This book which I have chosen to be reviewed which is called 'Message in A Bottle' has also been turned into movies but I have not seen them yet. The book introduces us to a character named Theresa who was jogging along the beach when she accidentaly discovered a bottle on the beach. Inside the bottle, there is a love letter to a person called Catherine, written by a man named Garrett. Intrigued by the love letter, Theresa then made a decision to tracked down the man who had written the letter.

I think this book was destined to be made into a movie. The book was written brilliantly and the plot is interesting with the ending turns out to be very surprising and sad. Even while reading the book feels like watching a movie. I have nothing but good words for the book. It is also the book which first introduces me to Nicholas Sparks and I have been a fan of his romance novels ever since. If you like romance novels, reading books by Nicholas Sparks is a must. But I highly recommend you to start by reading 'Message in a bottle' and ' The Notebook'. These two are considered to be some of his best written works.

Betrayed (HON #2) by PC and Kristin Cast

Like a striking snake, her mom slapped Aphrodite across her face, so hard that the crack of skin against skin made me jump and wince. I expected Aphrodite to leap off the bench and go after her mom's throat (please - we don't call her a hag from hell for nothing)

'Things seem to be going pretty well for Zoey Redbird. She's settled in at the House of Night finishing school and is coming to terms with her incredible new powers. It all seems too good to be true. And guess what?

Someone has begun murdering teenagers, and all evidence points to the vampyres at Zoey's school. Which means her first assignment as the leader of the Dark Daughters is finding out which one of her classmates or - gulp - teachers is a killer.

Sigh. And she thought her boyfriends (yes:plural) were going to be her biggest problem this year... - summary

The second book of the House of Night Series. One of my favourite book of the series. Why? Because I get to know the characters more especially the headmistress Neferet, the hag b*tch from hell Aprhodite and Zoey's friends Stevie Rae, Damien and the Twins Shaunee and Erin.

Zoey becomes the leader of the Dark Daughters after she saves everyone from the last ritual that Aphrodite messed up. Now, Zoey has two boyfriends...Yes, TWO! Erik and Heath. Well, not that Heath wants to leave her alone after they were imprinted. And then there's Aphrodite, lonely as ever and dealing with her visions and one of them is about Zoey's grandma.

And in this book also, there'll be death of someone that is closest to Zoey and then about the death of the teenagers...it got to do with Neferet. I don't wanna spoil you guys so if you want to know, go find this book in the library and buy one for yourself. After reading the part where one of the people closest to Zoey died I go, 'WHAT?!'. But no worries, s/he'll return...Though not actually 'normal'.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

'A bow pulled, an arrow shot.'

Stephen King, Rick Riordan and Stephenie Meyer. Ring a bell? They're authors. The Bestselling authors. What they've got to do with The Hunger Games? Well, they've read it and they give good reviews on this book. And that's what I'm gonna do.

It's a story about a reality TV show called The Hunger Games in which 12 boys and 12 girls must represent each of their district. There is one rule for this game: Kill or Be Killed. It's a very, very rough and violent game.

Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist in this story, volunteer after her sister's name was called. She sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.

She's the main target for all the players in the game as she scored the highest during the training score. Everyone wants her dead first and they make allies with each other. Will she run or let them find her and be killed for the game is already killing her slowly?

I've known about The Hunger Games when I visit Stephenie Meyer's official website last year. It doesn't interest me at first because the cover looks like it's a children's book. I didn't google it so I don't know what this book is all about.

Then, I saw this book at Popular bookstore in KK and it has 2 different front cover. One is a picture of a girl and the other is a boy and I chose the boy version because it's blue. I love blue :D So I bought it for RM42.90. I didn't read it at first because I've read other book that time. But once I read it, I found it...Boring. You know, few couple of pages. And I stopped reading it for few weeks and read a malay novel.

I know, right? BUT...Yes, there's a BUT, when I came to Part 2 of this book, I can't pull myself away from this book. It just get interesting, even the game begins with all the brutal killings and so and so. And some romance... It's a very, very good book that I recommend everyone to read it. In conclusion, it has a bad start but it gets better along the way. I give it...

When friends stop trusting each other, Darkness is there to fan the
flames....

Things have turned black at the House of Night. Zoey Redbird's soul has
shattered. With everything she's ever stood for falling apart, and a
broken heart making her want to stay in the Otherworld forever, Zoey's
fading fast. It's seeming more and more doubtful that she will be able
pull herself back together in time to rejoin her friends and set the
world to rights. As the only living person who can reach her, Stark must
find a way to get to her. But how? He will have to die to do so, the
Vampire High Council stipulates. And then Zoey will give up for sure.
There are only 7 days left...

Enter BFF Stevie Rae. She wants to help Z but she has massive problems
of her own. The rogue Red Fledglings are acting up, and this time not
even Stevie Rae can protect them from the consequences. Her kinda
boyfriend, Dallas, is sweet but too nosy for his own good. The truth
is, Stevie Rae's hiding a secret that might be the key to getting Zoey
home but also threatens to explode her whole world.

In the middle of the whole mess is Aphrodite: ex-Fledgling, trust-fund
baby, total hag from Hell (and proud of it). She's always been blessed
(if you could call it that) with visions that can reveal the future, but
now it seems Nyx has decided to speak through her with the goddess's own
voice, whether she wants it or not. Aphrodite's loyalty can swing a lot
of different ways, but right now Zoey's fate hangs in the balance.

Three girls... playing with fire... if they don't watch out, everyone
will get Burned.

The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards

"You know, I've been wondering what it's like," she said. "Before we're born, I mean. It's too bad we can't remember."

'On a winter night in 1964, when a blizzard forces Dr.David Henry to deliver his own twins. His son, born first, is perfectly healthy, but the doctor immediately recognizes that his daughter has Down Syndrome. For motives he tells himself are good, he makes a split-second decision that will haunt all their lives forever. He asks his nurse, Caroline, to take the baby away to an institution. Instead, she disappears into another city to raise the child as her own.' - book's summary.

So, there's actually not much to say about this book because I find it...slow and boring. I saw and bought this book at Times Bookstore in KK for RM37.35 on 22.12.08 (yes, I always write the dates and price of the book as you noticed). When I first saw this book, I think I saw this at my cousin's house but I didn't borrow from her so I decided to buy one for myself (yes, I love it if the book is originally mine) but bad decision for me. I bought this book for it's cover. Never Judge The Book By It's Cover?

Anyways, from the summary, Dr. David deliver his own twins and gave away the ill one to his nurse to be left at an institution because he had a sister with the same kind of illness and she didn't last long. Although, his nurse decided to keep his daughter without him knowing. And from here, I thought there's going to be a love triangle :S

Continue...With all the secrets he kept from his family, his family is starting to fall apart. And one day, his family...especially his wife found out that her daughter is still alive and her son, Paul can't believe that for all his life he has a sister...his twin. All in all...
